Our Projects
Innovative predator protection
The Foundation supported AfriCat foundation with innovative technology from SmartParks, enabling the tracking of leopards, brown hyenas and pangolins. This allows them to collect data on populations, behavior and habitats, so that these animals can be better protected.
About AfriCat foundation
Innovative technology for protection
The AfriCat foundation focuses primarily on leopards, cheetahs and brown hyenas, animals that often come into conflict with agriculture and ranching. Through the use of modern technology, such as GPS collars, AfriCat can track these animals remotely. This helps to better understand their movements, habitats and behavior. This allows them to intervene early in potential conflicts with farmers and protect the animals, while collecting valuable data for research and conservation. Education and awareness also play an important role in AfriCat's work. Schools, local communities and young researchers are given the opportunity to learn about ecosystems and predator behavior as well as the importance of conservation.
Nature conservation in Namibia
Major Programs and Initiatives
Research and ecology: focus on the habitats, behavior and population of species such as leopards, brown hyenas and pangolins in the Okonjima Nature Reserve.
Nature education: programs for schools and youth in Namibia to raise awareness about conservation and the role of predators.
Community work: engaging farmers and agriculturists in northwestern Namibia to reduce human-wildlife conflicts and increase tolerance for predators.
Animal and rehabilitation center: sheltering predators that are injured or cannot be released, as ambassadors for species protection and for awareness.
Tourism & Nature Conservation: Cooperation with the Okonjima Nature Reserve and tourism forms a funding and awareness model for nature conservation.
