Rare giants
The Foundation has supported the Pangolin Project in Kenya with practical on-site assistance and targeted training for the ranger and monitoring team. During this collaboration, work was done to strengthen their capacity to better monitor and protect pangolins in the field. The project focuses on protecting the last giant pangolins in Kenya, an extremely rare and special species in Africa.

The Pangolin Project Kenya works to protect the last giant pangolins in Kenya. In the forests of Nyekweri, on the edge of the Mara ecosystem, the organization is committed to protecting this extremely rare species and its habitat. Through research, ranger patrols, habitat protection, and close cooperation with local communities, the project is working toward a future in which pangolins can safely survive in their natural environment. The project combines science, technology, fieldwork, and community collaboration to address threats such as poaching, deforestation, and dangerous fencing. In doing so, it contributes to the conservation of both the pangolins and the broader ecosystem in which they live.

Major Programs and Initiatives
Research and monitoring: Monitoring giant pangolins with camera traps and field observations to gain more insight into their behavior, distribution, and population.
Habitat protection: Collaboration with local landowners to protect important forest areas. Through agreements and cooperation, forests that are essential for pangolins and other wildlife are preserved.
Ranger patrols and field protection: A team of trained rangers patrols the forests, removes poachers' snares, responds to injured animals, and helps reduce human-wildlife conflicts.
Safe habitat:The project works with local people to remove or modify dangerous electric fences, which are a major cause of death for armadillos and other wildlife.
Community collaboration: Local communities are actively involved in nature conservation through meetings, collaborative programs, and sustainable land management initiatives, enabling people and wildlife to coexist.
