5. Policy Plan 2025 - 2026.
The No Wildlife Crime Foundation contributes to reducing wildlife poaching. The focus is now on wildlife poached and trafficked in Africa, Asia and Latin America. See website for target species. In 2015, the creation of the foundation and formal procedures (composition of the board, advisory board, development of the website, choice of target species) were the focus. In May 2016, the foundation was launched. Since then, we have worked hard to expand the foundation and have been able to fund many great projects.
In 2025-2026, the following will be worked on:
Expanding potential sponsorship projects.
Actively seek new collaborations with businesses, social institutions and private funds that support the goals of the foundation.
Ongoing support of projects
In addition to financial support, the foundation acts as a knowledge partner and connector. Through collaboration with researchers, conservationists, educational institutions and the general public, the foundation contributes structurally to the success and sustainability of ongoing projects.
Increasing brand awareness of the Foundation.
The Foundation increases its visibility through participation in award ceremonies, relevant conferences and by establishing strategic collaborations with projects and organizations pursuing similar objectives.
Recruiting donors.
Targeted actions and campaigns are designed to raise both structural and one-time donations.
Optimal communication about the foundation, its goals and projects
The foundation communicates actively and transparently through a well-maintained website, social media channels, publicity surrounding programs in which Freek Vonk performs and by making use of free publicity in media and press.
Developing a plan of action for 2026 and beyond
A strategic plan aimed at structural growth, sustainable development and setting clear medium- and long-term goals is being developed.
Supporting new projects
The foundation seeks new initiatives and projects that need financial or substantive support.
6. Remuneration Policy
The members of the board and the members of the advisory board of No Wildlife Crime receive no financial remuneration for their activities for the foundation. For communication and PR, the foundation works with 1 employee who works at No Wildlife Crime for 1.5 days per week.
7. Objectives
The No Wildlife Crime Foundation contributes to reducing wildlife poaching. To stop wildlife crime, money is needed. For example, to pay the salary of rangers, to ensure that there are good resources to protect animals and to track and arrest poachers.
The goals of the No Wildlife Crime Foundation:
NWC provides financial support to projects that aim to stop wildlife crime.
NWC is going to make sure that as many people as possible in the Netherlands know that wildlife crime exists. The more people know about it and the more people disapprove of it, the faster we can stop it together.
Freek Vonk pays attention to the foundation and the projects that No Wildlife Crime finances in his programs on TV, his children's magazine Wild van Freek and in his columns. Updates on activities are posted on the website and communicated through newsletters and social media.
8. Report of activities carried out
Since its official launch in May 2016, the foundation has supported many projects. New projects have been added in the past year. For example, NWC helped Project Mecistops deploy technology to track illegal activities surrounding the poaching of the endangered West African armored crocodile, among others. How we do that. With NWC, our contributions have included: the purchase of special acoustic recording devices that can detect poachers, transmitters for the crocodiles to keep track of where they are, and special motorcycles to reach remote areas. In addition, NWC has supported the Himalyan Tiger Project. In 2010, there were only 150 Bengal tigers left in the Terai, an area on the border between Nepal and India. The Himalyan Tiger Project protects these endangered tigers. They help the rangers on the ground fight poaching and together with NWC we have donated spy cameras, backpacks and track suits, among other things. In addition, NWC is in the process of completing support for two new projects on Malayan bears in Borneo and the African gray red-tailed parrot in Rwanda.
